Mission
To improve the health of Michigan's public through the application of medical knowledge
to preventive and public health issues.
Goals
To provide a forum for the development of recommendations concerning public health
issues through the exchange of information and discussion.
To provide a means for interchange with the local, state, and academic public health
communities on recommendations concerning public health issues and practices.
To provide a means of interchange and interaction between preventive medicine, public
health, and clinical practitioners on issues of mutual importance and interest.
Objectives
To enable members to obtain information on issues of importance to the practice and
study of public health and preventive medicine.
To enable members to effectively convey the views of the Association to local and
state public health, academic public health, community organizations, the state medical
society, and other physician groups.
To enable members to interact effectively with the clinical community on issues of
common interest.
To enable the Association to communicate information relative to preventive medicine
and public health to the general public.
To advocate on behalf of Public Health and Preventive Medicine Physicians.
To encourage the development and ongoing support of a General Preventive Medicine
and Public Health Residency training program for physicians in the state of Michigan.
